Curiosity in Action: Upskilling, Side Projects, and Fun Design Experiments

Curiosity in Action: Upskilling, Side Projects, and Fun Design Experiments

Being in between roles can feel uncertain, but it’s also been a great time to reset, reflect, and learn intentionally. When I think about what to explore next, I ask myself:

"What’s practical and applicable to my design practice right now?"
"What’s something fun I’ve been curious about?"

We don’t always get the space to up-skill or even follow up on curiosities so I’m taking advantage of it now! Lately I’ve been diving into workshops, conferences, and a small pro-bono project. ↓

✨ AI + Design: I’ve supported AI design patterns in past roles and now I’m digging deeper into designing AI-first experiences. I'm exploring efficiency, flow, and agentic “vibe coding.”

🤲🏽 Inclusive & Trauma-Informed UX: Expanding my inclusive design practice by learning about healthcare UX and how trauma shapes the way people experience products.

🎤 Schema Season: Catching what’s new and next at Figma Schema.

👾 UX + Gaming: If you know me at all, you know I love video games! I've always been curious about how UX principles translate to gameplay and player experience.

💛 Pro-Bono Website Redesign: Refreshing a friend's personal training site to celebrate 29 years of helping people of all body types enjoy movement.

If you’re exploring new design areas too, I’d love to hear what’s been inspiring you lately!
