Designing Delight:
My Path from Graphic Design to UX Leadership

I grew up in Jackson, Mississippi, where a love for art naturally evolved into a lifelong career in design. My entry point into all things creative was drawing. I would spend hours sketching and dreaming of turning what many thought of as a hobby into a living.

It was no surprise that I entered Jackson State University as an art major, where I earned my Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design. In my sophomore year at JSU, I earned a mayoral commendation for contributions during a design internship at the City of Jackson where I produced several promotional materials in support of the Department of Human & Cultural Services.

After graduation, I started my career at an architectural firm, creating in-house branding and marketing materials. A few years later, I moved to San Francisco, California to pursue a Master of Fine Arts in Graphic Design at the Academy of Art University. I instantly fell in love with the city—its Mediterranean climate, vibrant diversity, and the intersection of art and tech innovation.

As a grad student, my projects were featured in the Spring and Winter Shows where industry professionals flock to view student work. After earning my degree, I decided to make San Francisco my home.

I continued my career in graphic design, working in-house at design-build firms and agencies, where I served clients across industries. My experience includes consumer product design in publishing, entertainment, and gaming with companies like VIZ Media and Crystal Dynamics. Eventually, I transitioned into tech, becoming a mobile product designer at Workday.

For over a decade, I’ve led UX design for mobile and desktop products in e-commerce, human resources, and cybersecurity. My goal is to make these experiences as intuitive and delightful as consumer applications, drawing from my background in branding and product design to bring a touch of joy to every interaction.

Outside of work, I love traveling, attending concerts, and exploring the city. At home, you’ll likely find me in the cozy Portola District, relaxing with my husband and our quirky cat, Cosmo, while drawing, playing video games, or reading graphic novels.
