BigCommerce is an e-commerce app that allows merchants to not only create their online stores but also manage inventory, orders, shipping, payments and other parts of their store’s business. Channel Manager was created as BigCommerce’s solution to omnichannel. Omnichannel refers to the ecosystem of social networks, shopper websites, and online marketplaces that merchants use to host their product listings. Managing multiple accounts and product listings across large catalogs presents a challenge for merchants.
The vision of Channel Manager is to serve as a hub for all channel activity. With Channel Manager, merchants won’t need to log into multiple accounts. BigCommerce would be the one stop for both channel management (setting up channels) and listing management (publishing products on those channels). Competitor analyses, merchant interviews, and design research helped inform an iterative process that included the design of workflow diagrams, wireframes and visual design. The result is an experience for channel and listing management that feels familiar, informative and fits in seamlessly with the existing user-interface.
